The Lincoln Tomb State Historic Site

The Lincoln Tomb State Historic Site is the final resting place of Abraham Lincoln, his wife Mary, and three of their four sons: Edward, William, and Thomas (known as "Tad"). Their eldest son, Robert Lincoln, is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

The Civil War Round Table of Chicago

On December 3, 1940, when the 29-year-old Newman and fifteen friends went to dinner at the erstwhile Bismarck Hotel before listening to Percival G. Hart’s presentation of “Stonewall Jackson’s Valley Campaign,” it led to their becoming the charter members of the very first Civil War Round Table. That modest gathering proved to be momentous: It spawned hundreds of such Round Table discussion groups that meet across the U.S. and around the world.

The Lincoln Academy of Illinois

In 1964, the State of Illinois provided one of the most spectacular and successful exhibits at the New York World’s Fair. Our Land of Lincoln Pavilion featuring Walt Disney’s audio-animatronic figure of Abraham Lincoln attracted world-wide attention. In the span of this two year “engagement” at the Fair, “Mr. Lincoln” attracted over nineteen million viewers.

A collaborative effort to document Abraham Lincoln's legal career that unearthed almost 100,000 documents (including over 200 previously unknown records in Lincoln's hand). Recognizing chief editors Martha L. Benner, who conceptualized the format and directly managed nearly every aspect, and Cullom Davis, who as project director created the project framework and guided it to fruition.

Chronicling Illinois - Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum

Chronicling Illinois provides digital access to collections of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum (ALPLM).
