Abraham Lincoln 216th Birthday Event: Symposium & Banquet

On February 15, 2025, The Abraham Lincoln Association (ALA) commemorated the 216th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth with a day of insightful discussions and celebrations in Springfield, Illinois.

The day began with the annual Benjamin P. Thomas Symposium at 10:00 a.m., featuring esteemed scholars who shared fresh perspectives on Lincoln and the Civil War era.​ The symposium concluded with a roundtable discussion moderated by Professor Michael Burlingame, allowing attendees to engage directly with the speakers.​

The evening banquet, held at the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel, featured a keynote address by Professor Michael Burlingame, a former ALA president and renowned Lincoln scholar. His speech, titled “Adventures and Misadventures of a Lincoln Scholar,” captivated the audience with personal anecdotes and scholarly insights.​
